# Rules of engagment

The rules of engagement (ROE) establish the responsibilities, relationships, and engagement guidelines between the red team and the business stakeholders. It should cover aspects such as:

* The authorised targets (domains, network address, etc).
* Any restrictions such as blacklisted targets or TTPs.
* The engagement objectives.

> Note: \
> \
> An engagement should not take place without an agreed ROE, and any subsequent changes or deviations must be approved by all parties.
